Hiring a plumber is not as easy as grabbing the yellow pages and picking the cheapest one. This could cause you a lot of problems that you really don’t need. Just because they are listed, doesn’t mean they are good. When hiring a plumber in Houston you should consider a few different things.

Insured
The first and most important thing that you need to ask is if they are insured. If they say no, then walk away quick, don’t let them touch anything in your home. If you hire a plumber who is not insured then you run the risk of him breaking something serious in your home and he’s not responsible for fixing it.

References
Ask them how long they have been in business and do they have any references. If they haven’t been in business long, then you might want to steer clear of them. If they don’t have any references then you really should stay away. If they give you references don’t hesitate to call them and ask how well they performed their job. Ask if it was done in a timely fashion and how well their pricing was.

Guarantees
Do they offer any work guarantees and if so for how long? Ask them what breaks a guarantee and what exactly does it cover. Just because they say they guarantee their work doesn’t mean it covers everything. You need to make sure it covers parts and labor and anything else that you can think of.

Cleanup
You should also ask them what type of cleanup they provide. They might not dispose of things properly. Just because they clean up after their work doesn’t mean they clean up bigger items. If they have to change your entire toilet, do they haul the old one away? These are the types of cleanup questions that should be asked.
