There are certain symptoms that you can use to decide for yourself whether you have migraines. Migraines are known commonly as “sick headaches”. By inference for those who do suffer from headaches, a “sick headache” is one that is accompanied by vomiting, dizziness, and a sour stomach. These symptoms along with headache symptoms of pounding in the frontal part of the head for periods longer than several days would qualify your “sick headache” as a migraine. You could seek confirmation from your medical doctor who might be able to prescribe some drug to ease the symptoms that accompany migraines, migraine headache treatment and a drug to stop the headache itself.

A migraine headache also has symptoms that go beyond normal headaches if any headache can be deemed to be “normal”. Migraines are accompanied by blurred vision when extreme and the normal aspirin that one takes for a headache has no effect on migraines. You would know if you had migraines if you felt as if you had severe flu like symptoms without coughing, congestion or fever. Migraines are very painful and cause the sufferer to be totally incapacitated until gone which can be for several days or longer.
You would know if you have migraines if you have headaches accompanied by vomiting, blurred vision, weakness in the extremities, no fever, and have gottten no relief from typical headache medications like aspirin. Some migraine sufferers have even experienced total amnesia until the migraine attack had passed. There are ways that migraine sufferers have learned to cope with their “sick headaches” which are quite different from coping mechanisms developed by headache sufferers.
