X-Rays and Chiropractic Care
by admin on May.03, 2011, under Health
Chiropractic care is a drug free and non surgical way that doctors have started to use in order to try and help people with problems that deal with the neurological and skeletal systems.
These problems generally deal with people’s spines or just certain pieces of the person’s nervous system.
In order to diagnose the what is causing the problem a doctor will attempt to simply do a total work up of the person’s body (if the person agrees). If this does not help the doctor to find the root of the problem or the patient does not agree to this procedure the doctor will order x-rays.
When a person has to use medical imaging technology (such as x-rays) in order to diagnose a problem that would require chiropractic care, the x-rays will be done in a manner that will show the person’s entire skeletal and neurological system. Ordering these x-rays is something that most chiropractic doctors will almost always do no matter what so that they know that they have found the entire problem and not just some of what is causing problems.
After having the x-rays performed, the doctor will go over the x-rays many times and when the doctor has found the complete problem he or she will explain it to the patient in a way that the patient can understand. When this step has been completed the doctor will go over the various non surgical and drug free treatment options with the patient and together they will choose a treatment plan.
These treatment plans will generally include things such as therapy, acupuncture, and/or tens. Chiropractic doctors will use these treatment the best way they can so that they can try to avoid putting the patient through any type of surgery.

What is a Digital Video Recorder?
by admin on Apr.29, 2011, under Lifestyle
Image via Wikipedia
A digital video recorder (DVR) is a device or software that is capable of capturing content onto a disc or hard drive for later playback. Typically, people use DVRs in their home to record their favorite television shows and movies. However, a digital video recorder can be used for many other purposes. These devices have grown in popularity over the years.
Aside from entertainment purposes, a DVR can be used to record operations carried out on a computer, such as when a person is creating a technology tutorial. A DVR can be used to record anything on a computer. Also, many people choose to use DVR systems as part of a security camera system because they can record everything that the camera sees.
Digital video recorders are nothing new and have been around as early as the 1960s. However, the early models were unreliable and had poor image capabilities. In the 1980s, DVRs were released for home use and have grown in popularity since then with the creation of TiVo. DVRs can be found just about anywhere nowadays.
Without a doubt, digital video recorders have plenty of advantages over VHS tapes and DVDs. For starters, DVRs usually save onto a hard drive, so they take up less space and can record more than other types of storage devices. DVRs also record better video and sound quality-wise than a VHS or basic DVD.
On top of this, DVRs can record multiple TV shows or camera channels, so they are much more versatile than DVDs or VHS recordings. Digital video recorders are here to stay because of their versatility and ease of use.

Choosing The Best Replacement Windows
by admin on Apr.29, 2011, under Construction, Home Improvement
Image via Wikipedia
There are a variety of styles, shapes and colors to choose from when buying replacement windows in Houston. The unlimited designs make Houston’s replacement windows unique from other styles found in the area. Before making a decision the buyer should carefully consider the amount of light, air and privacy best suited to their needs. After the final purchase is made the homeowner can later add extra window treatments as needed.
Type of Windows
There are four types of replacement windows that open in different ways. The double-hung style is divided in two movable sections with a bottom pane that rises and a top pane that lowers. Sliding windows are mounted on a runner and open from side to side. The casement and awning style come with a handle or lever that opens the window outward. Bay or bow windows have three or four panels that extend from the wall and opens to the outside.
Grid Styles
The replacement windows found in Houston are available in four grid styles. The Colonial, with its four, six or nine panes are the most popular choice among decorators and homeowners. The diamond style adds elegance to any room with its fancy criss-crossed pattern. The prairie cut has a pattern of overlapping bars on the inner portion of the window and the double prairie has a similar pattern with two sets of bars.
Moulding
The buyer should consider whether they want the windows in their home to blend in or stand out when choosing moulding. Bright contrasting colors will make a room appear sharp, while matching colors will give the room a more subdued look.
Window Care
After installing the replacement windows, the contractor should always explain their proper care to the homeowner. He should also demonstrate how to open, close and remove the windows.

PACS, DR and Digital X-Rays Offer a Cutting Edge Set of Equipment for Urgent Care Facilities
by admin on Apr.28, 2011, under Business, Health, Lifestyle
Image via Wikipedia
One of the major components of the rapid practice of emergency medicine is the ability to promptly read radiographic tests and nothing has streamlined that process more than the use of digital imaging equipment such as PACS RIS systems . This system not only allows the emergency physician to read standard radiographs, the so called “plain films”, but he can also view computed tomography, ultrasound, and nuclear medical studies without leaving the department or waiting on a radiologist’s interpretation.
Every radiograph can be manipulated to assist the physician’s diagnostic decision. Contrast can be adjusted, zoom is available, and the image can be made a positive or negative depending on what is being viewed. Immediately, often before the patient returns from the radiology department, the images can be viewed and frequently either redone or supplemental images can be ordered. Also measuring tools and digital markers are available to further enhance the image, and the image can be saved to a CD or DVD, can be transmitted to other facilities or physician offices via the internet, and can be archived for instant retrieval if the patient returns to the ED or urgent care, and the DICOM format is HIPPA compliant.
The patients in an emergency or urgent care setting vary widely in their presentation and demographics, and they rarely arrive one at a time. Without advocating for replacing the skill and knowledge of a trained and competent radiologist, any tool that makes more diagnostic information available to the emergency physician will enhance and improve care. Therefore any and all methods to effectively and efficiently streamline the process and flow should be considered, and digital imaging systems are one of the most efficient tools available to the modern urgent care or emergency department today.

Certified Organic Personal Care Products
by admin on Apr.25, 2011, under Uncategorized
Image via Wikipedia
There are tons of beauty/personal care products, like lotions, oils, shampoos/conditioners, perfumes, out there on the market.
Unfortunately, the great majority of them are full of harmful chemicals. Many of these chemicals cause health problems such as allergies, cancer, developmental/reproductive toxicity, endocrine disruption, nerve damage, etc. It’s really unbelievable that these products can be sold.
The general public has no idea what they are using on their bodies. If you take a careful look at the ingredients list on the products you buy, and do a little research on what each ingredient is, I’m sure you will be pretty shocked.
Fortunately, there are much healthier versions of these products available, which use much healthier, certified organic products. Certified organic body products contain pure, high quality ingredients derived from natural things such as flowers, fruit, beeswax, green tea, etc. They do not contain artificial ingredients. To be certified as organic, 95% of the product must be composed of pure organic ingredients. Any less than that, and they cannot be certified as being organic.
If you take a look at the ingredients list of a certified organic product, the majority of the list will be things you have actually heard of, not names of chemicals you’ve never heard of.
You have to really be careful these days when purchasing products and make sure the item says certified organic. If it says natural, chances are it may contain a few natural ingredients, but it also probably contains quite a few harmful chemicals. The natural ingredients are probably not organic, which means they probably contain chemicals themselves. Buying products that say certified organic is the only sure way of knowing you are buying a product free of harmful chemicals.
You are the only one who can take care of your body, and making sure you use certified organic products is a great way to do so.

Do I Have Migraines?
by admin on Mar.24, 2011, under Uncategorized
There are certain symptoms that you can use to decide for yourself whether you have migraines. Migraines are known commonly as “sick headaches”. By inference for those who do suffer from headaches, a “sick headache” is one that is accompanied by vomiting, dizziness, and a sour stomach. These symptoms along with headache symptoms of pounding in the frontal part of the head for periods longer than several days would qualify your “sick headache” as a migraine. You could seek confirmation from your medical doctor who might be able to prescribe some drug to ease the symptoms that accompany migraines, migraine headache treatment and a drug to stop the headache itself.
A migraine headache also has symptoms that go beyond normal headaches if any headache can be deemed to be “normal”. Migraines are accompanied by blurred vision when extreme and the normal aspirin that one takes for a headache has no effect on migraines. You would know if you had migraines if you felt as if you had severe flu like symptoms without coughing, congestion or fever. Migraines are very painful and cause the sufferer to be totally incapacitated until gone which can be for several days or longer.
You would know if you have migraines if you have headaches accompanied by vomiting, blurred vision, weakness in the extremities, no fever, and have gottten no relief from typical headache medications like aspirin. Some migraine sufferers have even experienced total amnesia until the migraine attack had passed. There are ways that migraine sufferers have learned to cope with their “sick headaches” which are quite different from coping mechanisms developed by headache sufferers.

How to Throw the Perfect Party
by admin on Dec.10, 2010, under Business, Lifestyle, Uncategorized
Giving the perfect party can be a lot of work but if you follow a plan, it can be lots of fun for the host as well as the guests. There are some easy steps to follow, and you can use these steps over and over again for future parties.
The first thing to do, is to make a list of things that you will need, such as food, napkins, tablecloth, drinks, invitations and anything else that you will need. A party or craft store is a perfect place to get invitations and favors. The type of invitations you send is the first way to let your guests know that the party will be a fun one. This means that the invitations can be funny, beautiful, original, or anything that shows the party will be a perfect one. Don’t wait until the last minute to do the shopping. If you wait for the last minute, by the time the guests arrive, you may be a nervous wreck. A calm and fun loving host is a good way to start out your party.
When it comes to food, make sure that you have a very special cake on display. This cake should represent a theme that represents a special occasion. Another unique idea is to put food coloring in your ice cubes. If you serve the drinks and entrees on a tray, you can have little flowers or other decorations on the tray.
If the party is going to be a special party such as a birthday party, have a theme. You can decorate the entrance of your house, the napkins, and anything else with a birthday theme. Music is always good at social events. Many stores have various types of party music.
In conclusion, to make certain that everyone is having a good time; walk around the room to see whether people are talking to one another. If I see someone is sitting or standing alone, bring that person to a group of people or to one other person whom I know has the same interests. Most importantly relax and have fun.

The Qualities of a Good Project Manager

Becoming a proficient and efficient project manager takes time, effort, skill and hard work. Most project managers have many duties such as creating and maintaining company policies, creating a Project Management Office (PMO), interview potential candidates, organize teams, create and maintain a project budget, schedule meetings and create an accurate and organized status report.
Being a good project manager also requires one to be a proficient and efficient organizer. Often, a project manager is also in charge of many team members—sometimes as high as 40-50 and with this large number of people, you will need to be organized to keep the project budget in order, keep your group of people on track and a host of other job need skills. Sometimes you will need to maintain more than two or three projects at a time and that is when you will need good project management skills.
During meetings with large groups of people, a project manager also needs to know how to manage the many different kinds of communication that often go on at the same time–such as phone calls, emails and meetings– that are of an emergency quality and work these kinds of communication in a skilled and professional way.
In addition, a project manager is often the central focus of information for project teams and your communication skills may determine the success or failure of tasks projects.
An efficient and productive project manager also needs to be an effective negotiator. Scope changes is usually the time when a project manager needs to be a negotiator so that he or she, with the help of the team can create and present a package to the customer that sells on work that is needed. A Primer on How to Motivate Your Employees
by admin on Sep.14, 2010, under Business, Legal and Financial

- Image via Wikipedia
Motivating employees takes a lot of incentive plus rewards. Employees like to feel important and like to be rewarded for their hard work. If the Employer recognizes that the employee has a special talent in a certain area that could enhance the company’s overall clientele, both the employee and the employer will benefit from this.
Today, most individuals spend a lot of time at work and need to feel valued by their employer. Many employers have cut back extra bonuses, etc. to save money. However, if the employer recognizes that they need to reward their employees with gifts, money or other means of incentives, the employees will have a reason to work harder and succeed.
Employee motivation programs are key to get employees interested in their line of work. If they are not motivated, employees will not try hard in the task or tasks given by their employer. This in turn, will hurt the employer’s business and the employees will slack off.
Holding a motivational meeting once a week will help keep employees motivated. It will give the employees a chance to contribute their ideas to helping the employer’s business grow and thrive. Happy employees make happy employers, which in turn, make happy clients.
Setting goals together, between the employee and his employer will also help keep the employee happy and will make them try harder to achieve their specific goals.
Giving encouragement and having positive quotes in frames around the office can also keep an employee motivated and focused on their work.
In the end, if the employer works hard at getting their employees motivated, they will have a successful relationship for many years to come, with their employees and they will also keep their existing clients happy as well. This is turn, will help the company grow.

Accounts Receivable Funding – How it Works
by admin on Aug.19, 2010, under Business, Legal and Financial, Real Estate
- Image via Wikipedia
If you own a small business, you may find yourself struggling to gain all the necessary capital to make your business grow. In fact, many small business owners are facing cash flow issues that are keeping them from growing to their full potential. Sometimes, financing from other sources, such as bank loans or lines of credit, may not be sufficient or available for them. Accounts receivable financing could be an option worth exploring.
Account receivable financing, also called factoring, consists of selling your outstanding invoices at a discount to an external company that will take the risk on these receivables and give you immediate cash payment. The actual amount that you will receive will vary depending on the age of the debt. The more current the invoice is, the more you will typically get.
Accounts receivable factoring has many benefits, such as:
Getting rapid financing. Unlike some other types of financing, you would not need to file a business plan or send in your tax statements to qualify for accounts receivable financing. You will receive quick cash that can be quite useful if you are facing cash flow issues.
Passing off your collections to another company. You will no longer have to spend time and money collecting on invoices. This will let you use your resources in a better way, that are more productive in helping your company grow.
While using accounts receivable factoring can have some great benefits for your business, it is not without its drawbacks. The main disadvantage of accounts receivable financing is the costs involved. The minimum fee that you will be charged by the financing company is 5%. Older invoices could be discounted by as much as 25%. Those fees can add up to a lot of money in the long term and are definitely more expensive than other means of financing. You should know that the discount rates will vary depending on which company you deal with, therefore it is in your best interest to shop around before you make a decision to secure financing.

Tips on How to Negotiate the Best Commercial Lease
by admin on Jul.15, 2010, under Business, Legal and Financial, Real Estate

- Image by spookyt_de via Flickr
If you are a new entrepreneur who is looking for some commercial space in Houston, or an older entrepreneur who is outgrowing his garage and home office, you need to take a few minutes and read this article. We will be discussing some of the things you need to be aware of before getting yourself tied up in a commercial lease agreement. By following these pieces of advice, you could save yourself a lot of frustration for months to come.
You need to have an idea in your mind of what kind of space you are going to need, and be prepared to have to shop around to find exactly what you are looking for. It is perfectly alright to compromise on your perfect floor plan, but if you know you are going to need an overhead door, it would be foolish to sign a long term commercial lease on a property without one. You should also be prepared to negotiate the terms of your contract. Negotiating the terms of a commercial lease in Houston is a completely normal part of the process, and is expected.
Before you sign any commercial leasing contract, always check out the future landlord. If the space you are considering has other tenants, come back after your initial inspection and visit with them to find out what kind of a person the property owner is. It would be much better to find out up front that, what you thought was a perfect property, is owned by a landlord who does not keep up their end of the agreement.
Never even consider signing a lease without first letting your attorney inspect the agreement. You are going to have to operate your business within the terms of this lease for a long time to come. You had better make sure you can live within the terms of the contract.
By following this simple advice, you will be well on your way to a pleasant experience with your first commercial lease.

How to Hire the Right Plumber
by admin on Jul.13, 2010, under Construction, Home Improvement

- Image by Tom Held via Flickr
Hiring a plumber is not as easy as grabbing the yellow pages and picking the cheapest one. This could cause you a lot of problems that you really don’t need. Just because they are listed, doesn’t mean they are good. When hiring a plumber in Houston you should consider a few different things.
Insured
The first and most important thing that you need to ask is if they are insured. If they say no, then walk away quick, don’t let them touch anything in your home. If you hire a plumber who is not insured then you run the risk of him breaking something serious in your home and he’s not responsible for fixing it.
References
Ask them how long they have been in business and do they have any references. If they haven’t been in business long, then you might want to steer clear of them. If they don’t have any references then you really should stay away. If they give you references don’t hesitate to call them and ask how well they performed their job. Ask if it was done in a timely fashion and how well their pricing was.
Guarantees
Do they offer any work guarantees and if so for how long? Ask them what breaks a guarantee and what exactly does it cover. Just because they say they guarantee their work doesn’t mean it covers everything. You need to make sure it covers parts and labor and anything else that you can think of.
Cleanup
You should also ask them what type of cleanup they provide. They might not dispose of things properly. Just because they clean up after their work doesn’t mean they clean up bigger items. If they have to change your entire toilet, do they haul the old one away? These are the types of cleanup questions that should be asked.
